We would like to invite you to participate in the demonstration and sale area during the 2010 Palmyra Pirates Weekend August 7-8, 2010. Pirates Weekend has been celebrated for the past 3 years. Each year, the crowds increase, the entertainment gets better, and the food tastes more delicious. A lively bed race down Main Street draws more crowds and participants each year. Museums, pirate entertainment, and canal boat rides are a few of the other activities that take place throughout this exciting weekend. The 42nd annual Corn Hill Arts Festival is consistently ranked as one of the top art shows in the United States featuring activities for children, a wide variety of music and entertainment, local and national sponsors, and over 40 food vendors. This two-day event offers a unique selection of original handcrafted arts and crafts from over 400-juried artists from around the country and Canada. This family-oriented festival offers hours of fun and excitement for everyone; including The Children’s Activity Area which offers a variety of exciting entertainment, hands-on-activities, face painting, arts and crafts for kids, and more! This festival also provides four stages featuring free music and other entertainment, including: bluegrass, jazz, reggae, rock, classical music, classic rock, local church gospel and much more! Free admission!! The show is juried. Attendance last year was around 200,000; this year they are expecting between 200,000 and 250,000. Application deadline is March 1st 2010. Single booth (10'x10') $265; Double booth (10'x20') $530. Electricity is available and must be requested on application: $30 per plug.

Over 100 artisans displaying, demonstrating and selling their work from the areas of pottery, painting of all medias, photography, wood/furniture makers, textiles, glass in all mediums, jewelers, craftsman, and much more. All materials are original designs and creations by the artisans. Great emphasis of this juried event is to highlight artists whom display only high quality products. Small assortment of food vendors. A wine tasting booth hosting 6 of the local wineries also doing bottle sales. Purchase of ticket to the wine tasting enters you into a raffle to win a 26" VIZIO HDTV. Also featured is an artist's raffle tent. Purchase of tickets to this tent allows attendees the opportunity to win their selected artist choice donations. The setting for the show is located under the trees in the beautiful historical village of Naples, New York. Plenty of free parking. Attendance in 2009 was approximately 2500 visitors.

Early American Decorative Arts “A Brush with History” Join us for a “Brush with History,” presented by the Central New York Chapter of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. This year’s annual Spring meeting will be held on April 23-25, 2010, at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center in Auburn, New York. The Historical Society of Early American Decoration is a nonprofit educational organization that is dedicated to researching, teaching and reproducing historically authentic early American decorative arts. In keeping with the goals of HSEAD, the CNY chapter has joined with the Seward House Museum of Auburn, New York, to examine the decorative arts of New York and the Seward House Museum. Peter Wisbey, former Executive Director of the Seward House Museum, will be Friday evening’s guest speaker. Mr. Wisbey will give us an overview of the decorative arts within the Seward House Museum. Also included as part of Friday’s after-dinner entertainment, will be Karen Bove who will present a program titled, “Mrs. Seward at Home”. Ms. Bove will be in character during her presentation. Saturday’s events will involve three programs given on a rotated basis of 50 people per rotation. The programs will include a docent-led tour featuring the decorative arts of the Seward House Museum, a presentation by Jim Havener titled, “Wild Creativity: The Grain Painted More House,” and Ms. Susan Blakney, Chief Conservator at Westlake Conservators, speaking about “A Central NY Painting Conservators’ Experience Treating Americana.” Sunday’s program will be presented by Mrs. Mary Obrist, member of the Central New York Chapter of HSEAD. Mrs. Obrist will discuss, “The Decorated Floors and Walls of Central New York”. Our exhibition room at the Auburn Holiday Inn will be open, free to the public, during the following hours: Friday April 23, 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Saturday April 24, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday April 25, 9 a.m.- noon Visitors are welcome to enjoy our beautiful displays in the Exhibition Room, review our educational materials, visit our vendor’s displays, and speak with members to learn more about the Society.
